Obama says Ronald Reagan would not get through 2012 GOP Primary

President Obama told a group of newspaper editors Tuesday that Republican leaders have become so radical that Ronald Reagan would not survive this year’s GOP Primary.

Right out of Comrade Alinsky’s dog-eared playbook: always accuse your opponents of that which you’re doing—or worse. Thus, we have this most leftist of left-wing presidents labeling his Republican foes—on the whole as harmless a herd of political invertebrates as you’re likely to find this side of Freedonia—as a gang of dangerous extremists. In the obfuscatory lingo of Barack Obama, this means that none of ‘em have ever been members of the Weather Underground. This is either a con-man’s gambit, the babbling of a delusional ideologue, or a change in tactics by an increasingly desperate politician. Maybe all three:

Obama does not believe he can win on his record. Tuesday’s speech announces that Obama thinks he must convince voters mushy Mitt Romney is a radical extremist to win. Conservatives and libertarians may be disgusted by the text of Obama’s speech, but they should be delighted by the subtext. (President Obama’s marvelous speech)

Well, under normal conditions, even Mother Theresa couldn’t win if she had a career record like Barry Soetoro’s. But this is the new America, the Obama Nation, a country in which federal officialdom, or what currently passes for it, can assert that unemployment stimulates the economy and that legislation which forces Americans under penalty of law to purchase health insurance actually enhances their freedom:
