Dispatches From Occupied America

ITEM: “This Thanksgiving, 42.2 million Americans will be on food stamps, according to the Economic Policy Institute. This is roughly the size of the populations of California and Connecticut combined.”  (USNews.com)

ITEM: “A Senate proposal touted as protecting Americans’ e-mail privacy has been quietly rewritten, giving government agencies more surveillance power than they possess under current law … [Democrat Senator Patrick] Leahy’s rewritten bill would allow more than 22 agencies … to access Americans’ e-mail, Google Docs files, Facebook wall posts, and Twitter direct messages without a search warrant. It also would give the FBI and Homeland Security more authority, in some circumstances, to gain full access to Internet accounts without notifying either the owner or a judge.” (CNET)

ITEM: “A website run by the federal government encourages new immigrants to the United States to apply for welfare benefits. This website is run by the Department of Homeland Security and it says that it ‘is the U.S. Government’s official web portal for new immigrants.’ So your tax dollars were used to build and maintain a website that teaches immigrants how to come into this country and sponge a living off of federal welfare programs paid for by your tax dollars.” (The American Dream)

ITEM: “All the Democrats’ old speechifying pretenses of believing in America and liberty have been dropped. The governing left now shares one voice with its non-governing cultural goon squad. They are all in with the post-Marxist language of class hatred. When the word “proletariat” actually starts slipping into their speeches in place of “middle class,” will anyone even blink?” (Obama Appoints Class Warfare Czar to Save New York)

ITEM: “The U.S. Department of Labor is officially observing Nov. 20 as ‘The Transgender Day of Remembrance.’

‘The Transgender Day of Remembrance [TDOR] will be commemorated in cities and countries around the world today, reflecting on those who have died as a result of fear, hate and transphobia,’ Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said in a statement on Tuesday.” (CNSnews)

Like many naive unfortunates preyed upon by charming psychopaths who disarm them with falsehoods and fluff, half of America has said of Barack Obama, “Oh, he looks all right.”  The other half suspects that “Forward” may be the last thing we ever hear.

Obama’s ideological collaborators — the scriveners and pundits, the fevered leftists of academia, the thuggish union bosses — are at least predicable in their folly.  But what are we to do about the others, our ill-informed countrymen who are blindly abetting in the destruction of their own well being, economic and otherwise?  What do you do after you’ve warned them time and again, and they still get into a car with any smiling stranger who offers them free candy?

Any suggestions?

  1. Damn, Bob. It’s hard to laugh and cry at the same time. You do have a diabolical talent. Suggestions? For the time being the progressives are going to get their way. They will successfully destroy this country and much of the world. We are are going to have to take a long view of things. We will have to use some of the same strategies and tactics they used to change peoples attitudes to change them back over time. We will be doing this for our grandchildren and their children. The odds are long but that is the only chance those children will have. That is all that keeps me going.
