It Takes A Thief

Nancy Pelosi to Democrats: Pay up – Alex Isenstadt – POLITICO.com.

“With the House Democratic majority in peril, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her lieutenants are pressing tightfisted rank-and-file members to open their wallets in an effort to save their most vulnerable incumbents.  The reluctance of various politically safe or retiring members — a group that includes some powerful veteran Democrats — to part with their cash is frustrating party leaders, who want to ensure that House Democrats have the financial resources to compete on an exceptionally broad playing field of races this fall.”

Ah, delicious irony.  Democrats, so generous with other people’s money, are loathe to part with their own.   Who would have guessed?  But never fear, the Chief Extortionist is perusing  the tightly clamped purses of House members even now, with an eye to lightening their loads.  After all, no more Democratic majority, no more Speaker Pelosi…

“Fures privatorum in nervo atque in compedibus aetatem agunt; fures publici in auro atque in purpura.” (“Thieves who steal from private citizens spend their lives in bonds and chains; thieves who steal from public funds spend theirs in gold and purple.”)

“Huge numbers of these “rich” Americans are leftists, and yet these rich leftists try to reduce their tax burden as much as possible.  If the best government policy towards wealth is to tax it heavily, then why don’t leftists lead the way?  Isn’t this sort of leadership — leadership by example — the most effective?”
