Doctors
(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171
Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.
Now think about this:
Guns
(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that’s 80 million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188
Statistics courtesy of FBI
So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, ‘Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.’
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT…almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!
Out of concern for the public at large, we withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention!

I would like to see anyone argue with you on this one Bob. And BTW I have only one eye, kindness of an ophthalmologist I went to see when my left eye was sometimes “a little watery’ and he diagnosed a detached retina.
He advised me that I would have to have it attended to immediately [it was to be just a tiny little procedure, no operation] but if I didn’t have it attended to he warned that I might become blind in the eye.
The long and short is I allowed myself to be talked into the scam and two days later when I left the clinic I left with a blind eye.
Lawyers? Don’t even mention them; hang the lot of them.
Great cartoon BTW.
“…hang the lot of them.” That sentiment puts you in the company of the immortal Bard, Ike. A few reasons why:
‘People who love sausage and people who believe in justice should never watch either of them being made.” –Otto von Bismarck
“This is a court of law, young man, not a court of justice.” –Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
“Justice is incidental to law and order.” –J. Edgar Hoover
“The more laws, the less justice.” –Marcus Tullius Cicero
Good call!
I tell you this: As one caught in the medical loop for well over a year, be very watchful regarding your medical care. Lots of mistakes — not fatal — do happen.
Armed only with a Merck Manual, I once out-diagnosed a doctor who was over-prescribing phenobarbital to a friend recovering from an aneurysm. Turned out she was allergic to the stuff. The symptoms were pretty clearly spelled out in the book, but the incompetent boob kept ramping her dosage because statistically the chances of an allergic reaction were extremely low. Could’ve killed her. Ever since then, I’ve treated the medical profession like Reagan treated the Soviets: “Trust but verify.”
My Mother was a nurse nearly all of her life, and this reminds me of a thing I have heard her say, sarcastically, “Well, the operation was a success, but the patient died… ”
None of my guns accidentally killed ANYONE today…
What a coincidence, Fred. Neither did mine. The liberals would call this a slow day.
lol@ y’all…great find Bob..bang bang~! 🙂
