…where treason has had tenure since the ’60s:

Columbia University Students Heckle Purple Heart Veteran (Michelle Malkin)

Columbia University students heckled a war hero during a town-hall meeting on whether ROTC should be allowed back on campus.

“Racist!” some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.

Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.

“It doesn’t matter how you feel about the war. It doesn’t matter how you feel about fighting,” said Maschek. “There are bad men out there plotting to kill you.”

Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.

In a few short years, many of these same jeering louts will no doubt be members of a public service union, demonstrating against fiscal sanity in another state bankrupted by the Democrats, their educational loans forgiven, courtesy of legislation signed into law by Columbia alumni Barack Obama, an acknowledged expert at giving away other people’s money.  But they’ll be alive to do it because of people like Sgt. Maschek.

I’m glad you picked up on this story and made a post about it. This should be all over the news and yet it is not. I am not even seeing that much about it on Fox. This proves that the “Thank you for your Service” coming from the left is just a Politically Correct Front to hide their real hatred for our Service Men and Women.

    • Bob Mack says:

Morning, SAMI. The New York Post picked up on it, and a few bloggers. Haven’t seen any MSM coverage yet. Not surprising, though, is it? They’re still busy trying to find ‘democracy’ in the Middle East and ‘oppressed’ public servants in Wisconsin.

Once again this is the result of Liberal Indoctrination throughout our School and College Systems. Our kids are lead like sheep to the slaughter of a bleeding heart belief system that has been proven over and over again to be harmful to the people of the United States. It is called Secular Humanism, and you will rarely hear that term used these days. It has been replaced with Social Justice.

One can only imagine just what is in those Sealed Records of one Barack Obama, aka Barry Sorento.

You have Columbia University down. I have left the e-mail for Columbia U president on Sami’s blog and will do so here. We need to speak up for a young man who fought to make his own heckling possible:

Now that the ”60s are back, the hair is again up on my neck and I am about to write a post about ’60s redux.

  5. And to think how respected Columbia University was some years ago!

I wonder….How much is tuition there?

    Sgt. Maschek:

    Left-wing Columbia cretins:

Columbia’s ROTC policy (From American Thinker):

The ROTC ban dates back to the violent protests of the Viet Nam era when students like Hillary Rodham, Bill Clinton, Bill Ayers and their comrades organized their fellow travelers in revolutionary fervor which often turned violent. Today’s students have been indoctrinated by their leftist educators and imbued with their radical anti-American vision which was clearly evident in their disrespectful treatment of Sgt. Maschek.

Looks like some college campuses are returning to the same anti military activism I head butted in the 60’s/70’s. My worst antagonists were professors. When they found out I was a recently returned Vietnam vet they made openly snide remarks to me. I responded in kind and after two semesters said f**k it and reenlisted.

    • Bob Mack says:

Tom, I had the same experience when I returned from the RVN. One of my ‘professors’ even went so far as to accuse me of cheating on a final exam–it was an essay test. Well, she’s dead now, & I’m still writing essays, so I guess things even out eventually.

      • AFVET says:

        Re-institute the draft.
ROTC is all volunteer and the young people that do are the leaders, or potential leaders of the Country’s armed forces.
MAKE all these elitist pampered ‘children’ dance in their own urine.
We will see another mass migration to countries unknown.
I volunteered for the Air Force.
I wanted to serve my Country.
If I had been drafted into the Army, I would not have had the same opportunity to serve my Country in the way I wanted to.
In the organization I wanted to be in.
I feel that the re-enlistment rates will fall, depending on how the DADT repeal plays out.
Some of these troops are standing on a balance beam, either get out now and take your chances in the private sector, or stay in and stick it out.
When you have a family, that is a major decision.
        I don’t envy them.

  9. AFVET says:

    ROTC is an opportunity.
This Country was founded on opportunity.
The left are digging a hole so deep it will take them years to get out of.
    God Bless the USA.

  10. Bob Mack says:

AFVET, I agree that re-ups are gonna drop because of DADT repeal. And, as much as I’d like to see students like those that jeered Sgt. Maschek drafted into the army (or the Marines, as happened to a few shocked former civilians at the induction center when I began my stint in the military), serving with terminal f**k-ups can be hazardous to your health, as I learned first-hand when one of ’em dropped a live grenade by my foot during basic. Had it not been for an alert D.I., my army career would’ve ended shortly after it began. Worse yet, instead of discharging the clumsy perp as a hopeless incompetent, they recycled him through another round of basic training, thus giving him even more opportunities to turn his fellow soldiers into hamburger.

    • AFVET says:

      Agreed Bob.
The hopeless incompetent was indicated as just that to the DI.
He probably ended up cleaning latrines.
DI’s hate to admit failure, he just happened to miss the one that could have crippled you.
I guarantee the DI was questioned.
Most DI’s have a different MOS, that could have caused him his position, or maybe one more time Sarge.
I can just hear them now, don’t f**k up again.
      Dismissed.

      • Bob Mack says:

Actually, they put the f**k-up out on a deserted intersection with a wooden rifle, and instructed him to guard the crossroads. Which he did faithfully until the next training cycle began. The DI who flipped the grenade from our bunker prior to detonation has always maintained a fond place in my memories. That same instructor was almost killed another time in training when a different group of idiots opened fire while he was downrange checking targets. The poor guy had probably been safer in the RVN. Maybe it was he who authored the old marching ditty, G.I. grits and G.I. gravy…G.I. wish I’d joined the Navy.

These little commie bastards are the product of LIBERAL education systems… If allowed to continue, these places, like Columbia, will be the death of America and make ALL that we do now a moot point…

  12. AFVET says:

Redundancy is a sure sign of senility.
Wait, what did I just say about the DI. ????
Sorry Bob, I attempted to rid of the one, didn’t work.

  13. roxannadanna says:

We only know that this is Obama’s old school because he said so. Do we have any documentation that proves it, without question?

All the words I start to type on this topic come out as 4-letter words. Angry and disgusted doesn’t even start to cover how I feel about this treatment of our soldiers.

    • Bob Mack says:

Hi, ROXY. 1.) Now that you mention it, the only school where we have proof of Obama’s attending is that madrassa in Indonesia. 2.) My original posting on the Sgt. Maschek affair was filled with *expletives deleted* as well, but then I thought, we don’t have to condemn these leftist lowlifes. They condemn themselves every day by their own actions. The pendulum is swinging, and sooner or later it’s going to slam into the universities, where free discourse is too often code for the outright propagation of Marxism.

  15. The repeal of DADT certainly has an upside, don’t it?

These JACKWAGONS can’t use that excuse anymore, and they have to reveal their true feelings.

That sign boils my blood. The military PREYS on low income communities? Ugh, the military gives them opportunities they otherwise would not have. Their crappy dem-run inner-city community organizers sure as hell don’t give em any. And what exactly are YOU doing to help those low income people, you snotty little privileged puke?

    Serenity now!

    Breathing, breathing, calming down . . .

    Linda
