H/T to Conservatives on Fire and Bunkerville

In the old movie ‘cliffhanger’ serials, each week’s installment ended with the hero in a life or death situation from which there was apparently no possible escape.  That seems to be the situation the country finds itself in as we veer toward national default.  Obama and the socialists want more spending and more taxes; responsible citizens do not.  And now House Speaker Boehner’s done talking–at least to the President.  In a letter to his colleagues, he explains why:

[…] It became evident that the White House is simply not serious about ending the spending binge that is destroying jobs and endangering our children’s future.

A deal was never reached, and was never really close.

In the end, we couldn’t connect. Not because of different personalities, but because of different visions for our country.”

Under normal circumstances, whenever I hear a politician refer to “our children”, I lock my doors and hide my wallet in my underwear; but when the Speaker’s adversary happens to be the biggest spendthrift in the history of the Republic, it’s not only our own progeny we should be worrying about, it’s all Americans yet to come.  By his actions in office and his own autobiographical admission, Barack Obama is at the very least sympathetic to the aims of Marxism.  And a Marxist does not want to strengthen a capitalist economy–he wants to destroy it.

  1. I agree with everything you’ve said, Bob. This president has shown time and again that he is not willing to cut spending and all they want is another unlimited credit card. It would seem that the majority of the American people would see and realize what this administration is doing. I was very disappointed in the evening news programs I saw this evening. Everyone one of them sighted a poll that showed the American people believe that tax increases is the only way to solve the debt crisis! FOX news’ own poll even showed that the Republicans will get the blame if the debt ceiling doesn’t get increased and the economy doesn’t begin to recover! I am baffled! Does the public not blame this man and his marxist, socialist, communist friends for anything? Even though I see thousands of posts a day on every web site I visit of people that are fed up with the direction this country is being dragged into, the “polls” still show Obama in a positive light. It is just beyond believable!

Hi, MS. The networks are in the tank for Obama, & FOX has been listing leftward of late. Here’s Rasmussen’s poll from today:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 62% of Likely U.S. Voters are worried more that Congress and President Obama will raise taxes too much rather than too little in any deal to end the debt ceiling debate. Just 26% fear they’ll raise taxes too little. Twelve percent (12%) aren’t sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Similarly, 56% worry that Congress and the president will cut spending too little in the final debt ceiling deal, while only 25% are concerned that they will cut spending too much. Nineteen percent (19%) are undecided.

There’s a wide difference of opinion, however, between the Political Class and Mainstream voters. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of the Political Class is worried the deal will cut spending too much, while 63% of Mainstream voters fear it won’t cut spending enough. Those in the Mainstream worry more than Political Class voters by a near two-to-one margin – 70% to 37% – that the debt deal also will raise taxes too much.

I think what we see on the blogs is closer to the mark than what we see on the networks.

  4. LD Jackson says:

I was listening to a report this past week that said the President was faring much better during this debate, than was Congress. I have felt all along that the main goal of the President and the rest of the Democrats is to shift the blame for this fiasco entirely onto the Republicans. Never mind that they have been spending money hand over fist since Obama moved into the White House. Never mind that the Democrats haven’t the spine or fortitude to even pass a budget. What’s frustrating is that so many Americans either fail to see what is happening, or just plain ignore the facts.

    • Bob Mack says:

No doubt, LD. CNS reports this:

“Well, when it comes to all the checks, not just Social Security — veterans, people with disabilities — about 70 million checks are sent out each month — if we default then we’re going to have to make adjustments. And I’m already consulting with (Treasury) Secretary (Tim) Geithner in terms of what the consequences would be,” Obama said.

“We should not even be in that kind of scenario. And if Congress — and in particular, the House Republicans — are not willing to make sure that we avoid default, then I think it’s fair to say that they would have to take responsibility for whatever problems arise in those payments.”

In the next breath, Obama said he’s “not interested in finger-pointing and I’m not interested in blame, but I just want the facts to speak for themselves.”

Sure, & I’ve got a a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you…I think he’ll hold the SS checks on purpose to try & get his tax increase through, even though there’s more than enough money to cover those payments.

  5. The Republicans at least have a plan on the table. I applaud them for that. IMHO, the Cut and Cap part of the plan is great. But tying it to a Balanced Budget Amendment serves no purpose and is counter productive. It s nothing more than for show. If we need an amendment to our constitution, why not wait until after the 2012 elections when we hope to control all three branches of government? As it is, the BBA is a deal breaker. Surely our boys and girls are smarter than that.

    Thanks for the H/T.

    • Bob Mack says:

JIM, Publius has already convinced me of the inadvisability of the BBA. Now, if she can only convince some of the Republicans. On the other hand, something’s gotta be done to restrain these wastrels.

  6. bunkerville says:

Thanks for the link. I agree with your analysis. Obama at his most arrogant self at the Presser. I suggest we keep our eye on Rick Perry. My perception is he may be a plant. A former Dem, ran Gore’s campaign in Texas, and wants the super highway from Texas to Canada.

  7. Bob Mack says:

Could be, BUNKER, but I give him points for standing up to Obama & icing the murderer Leal Garcia. Time will tell.

  8. This is such a great video. I suspect we can pull it out often to make our point. You said:

“Obama and the socialists want more spending and more taxes; responsible citizens do not.”

That’s it Bob. That’s the bottom line.

  9. AFVET says:

This whole scenario reminds me of the scene in True Lies, where the pelican lands on the hood of the terrorist truck.
They thought they had it made. :).

  10. roblorinov says:

Excellent post and points Bob!! And your last comment could not be more correct as demonstrated yesterday when the idea of a “Super Congress” was proposed with support from Obama, Boehner, Reid, and McConnell. It’s nothing short of creating an American style Soviet Central Committee. I’ve just posted about it all on my blog. You know what gets me? We thought in the Midterms we did the right thing by throwing out the Dems in Congress BUT what actually happened was we just replaced them with Republican Marxists. How’d that happen? Because that’s what they all are no matter what their party now. I fear our Republic is over and we just don’t want to realize it yet.

ALERT!! US To Create Soviet Style CENTRAL COMMITTEE!! [Ed. Note: Link added by BSYRTGA]
