‘On What?’–McCain Says He Didn’t Know Defense Bill He Approved Repealed Military Ban on Sodomy, Bestiality

CNS:  The repeal of the ban on sodomy and bestiality in the military, were you at all aware of that?

John McCain:  …That particular provision I did not know.  So we’ll have, we’ll get back to you. We’ll get back to you. Just call.

Sen. Lindsey Graham Says He Didn’t Know Defense Bill He Approved Lifts Military Ban on Sodomy and Bestiality

CNS: The Defense Authorization Bill, were you aware of the repeal of the ban of sodomy and bestiality in the military, article 125?”

Lindsey Graham: No, I can’t say I was…

White House–Laughingly–Declines to Comment on Senate Vote to Repeal Military’s Ban on Sodomy and Bestiality

Jake Tapper, ABC News: Are you sure you don’t want to take any more questions on bestiality?

Jay Carney: Let’s get to something more serious.

Jon Corzine to tell House panel he doesn’t know where customers’ money went

The old Pepsodent toothpaste jingle asserted, “You’ll wonder where the yellow went…”  In Corzine’s case the color in question is green.

Jon S. Corzine, the former U.S. senator and New Jersey governor who presided over the collapse of the commodities brokerage MF Global, said he cannot explain what happened to “many hundreds of millions of dollars” that the firm was holding for customers.

It Was Only $1.5 Trillion, Fed Chair Says Of Secret Bailouts

The Federal Reserve conducted no $7 trillion dollar secret bailout, insists Chairman Ben Bernanke, and even if it did, it was only a trillion and a half:

Bernanke, in letters to the relevant House and Senate committees, says there was no secret bailout. And media reports that the not-secret-bailout that no one knew about cost $7 trillion or more are “wildly inaccurate.”

Besides, it cost “only” $1.5 trillion, Bernanke said.

Terrorists said to be infiltrating military – Washington Times

But Obama’s Department of Defense doesn’t like to call them that; they’re just ‘workplace trouble-makers…’

Obama DOD Calls Ft. Hood Massacre ‘Workplace Violence’

The Fort Hood massacre that took place on November 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military installation in the world, located just outside Killeen, Texas, was the worst shooting ever to take place on an American military base. In the course of the shooting, Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army Major serving as a psychiatrist and a Muslim, killed 13 people, one of whom was pregnant, and wounded 29 others…

…It’s typical of the Obama administration to deny any link between Islam and violence, even when it is shouted at them and dead bodies are the result. As you can suspect, lots of people are terribly upset and are speaking out…

…And, paraphrasing Winston Churchill, our President will fight them in the Dairy Queens, the Creameries, and even in Friendly’s…

Nothing fights terrorism like an Arctic Blast Sno-Cone machine. That’s why, according to information in the Greenville Daily News, thirteen counties in Michigan received snow cone machines as part of equipment to combat terrorism; on a grant by the Michigan Homeland Security Program. Only one county requested it but all 13 received a machine. “Arctic Blast’em terrorists, boys!”

Strangely enough, another county requested a popcorn machine but didn’t get it. Arctic blasting is more efficient against terrorists than popping them.

Federal judge: Montana blogger is not journalist

Because second-rate benchwarmers wear black robes, it does not necessarily mean they’re judges:

A federal judge in Oregon has ruled that a Montana woman sued for defamation was not a journalist when she posted online that an Oregon lawyer acted criminally during a bankruptcy case, a decision with implications for bloggers around the country.

…[the judge] said Cox was not a journalist because she offered no professional qualifications as a journalist or legitimate news outlet. She had no journalism education, credentials or affiliation with a recognized news outlet, proof of adhering to journalistic standards such as editing or checking her facts, evidence she produced an independent product or evidence she ever tried to get both sides of the story.

‘Osawatomie Obama’ launches assault on facts and history

…and on capitalism:

President Obama delivered his Osawatomie speech, according to aides, because he wanted to associate himself with the rhetorical and ideological significance of Teddy Roosevelt’s “New Nationalism” address at the same Kansas location in 1910. It’s odd enough that Obama would associate his policies with a speech that defined a failed political movement — the Bull Moose Party — but there is something else about Osawatomie County that makes it a strange locale for a presidential address ostensibly intended to encourage greater American unity. This was the place in Kansas that was headquarters for John Brown, the murderous radical who obsessed throughout his life about inciting a race war he believed would end slavery in the South.

Obama: Limited Gov’t That Preserves Free Markets ‘Doesn’t Work. It Has Never Worked’

Well, it worked pretty well until he assumed office…

In a speech delivered at Osawatomie High School in Osawatomie, Kansas, on Tuesday, President Barack Obama argued that while a limited government that preserves free markets “speaks to our rugged individualism” as Americans, such a system “doesn’t work” and “has never worked” and that Americans must look to a more activist government that taxes more, spends more and regulates more if they want to preserve the middle class.

Thanks, FREE. It’s getting so’s I need to fortify myself with a LARGE coffee laced with a generous dollop of Jack Daniels prior to my perusing the daily news reports. Then, after I’ve finished reading them, I usually feel the need for another…

When i saw the 93-7 vote on this bill in the senate, I was astounded.
The senile old fool, McCain did serve his country, and was incarcerated in the prisons of Nam,… but, it does not give him the authority to kneecap our liberties.
His admission of not reading the bill is indicative of why this country is in the shape it is in.
Obviously, he was re-elected by the people of Arizona who were ignorant enough to put just another parasite into the senate that consistently displays his inability to stand for America.
Graham, don’t get me started on that puss.
He is disgusting, a posture child for a sleaze bag politician.

93-7. If that was a football score, it’d be historic. Which is what the country’s going to be if our ‘representatives’ don’t soon pull their heads out of their customary resting places.

Second, thank you for your service to this country!

Third, what program or plug-in do you use to turn photos into polarized-type line drawings? I must say, very effective indeed!

  8. Bill says:

Bob Mack worries about legalizing sodomy (bestiality would be outlawed under other areas anyways) when the act allows for the indefinite detainment of American citizens without trial.

And you are asking others to pull their heads out of their asses?
How about you take a step back and clean the dirt off that lens that you are seeing the world through.

    • Bob Mack says:

BILL, my opinion on that travesty has been made clear in a few of my previous essays. That, however, does not obviate the pernicious ramifications that will result from the repeal of Article 125 of the UCMJ. Any policy that undermines unit cohesion and effectiveness is a bad one. Experience was my teacher; who was yours? But I don’t see how you missed the essential point of the post, i.e. the unbelievable negligence of U.S. senators who have once again passed legislation without knowing what it contained. And since you have demonstrated the bad form, as well as the discourtesy, to begin your comment with a straw man argument and to end it with insult (the usual parting shot of the semi-literate Left), I don’t believe we have anything further to discuss.

  9. Phil says:

I don’t subscribe to much of what you do but I guess I’ve been reading for an hour at 5 am so there’s that. I do however, love your demeanor. Your personality really comes across in your writing and the politeness and openness you show towards criticism is refreshing. The world is a much different place than it was when you were younger. Globalization, rise in independence and the free expression of sexual identity, the internet and *real time* information from all over the planet, as well as EXTREMELY subversive and brilliant propaganda (which would impress even Goebbels) are changing the way budding Americans view things. Religion, fear, and bigotry would make bad laws pass back in the day. Now lies, deceit, and immeasurable amounts of money make bad laws pass. I had a few questions or topics but after trying for a while, the fortitude required eludes me.

Could I at least get a good argument for (besides misinterpretation of the Bible, which I also don’t subscribe to) why sodomy should be illegal in the military and if you could relate it, one against gay marriage? I’ve yet to hear one so I’m interested in an articulate, vet’s opinion.

DFAA is appaling by the way and we’re screwed.

  10. Bob Mack says:

Hell, PHIL, even I used to have trouble subscribing to what I do (or did, to be precise). Of course, that was in younger and crazier days. And, yeah, the world is different, but human nature is unchanging. Unfortunately. Your critique (if such it is) warrants more than a brief comment, so I’ll try & codify my thoughts into a (hopefully) coherent post sometime soon. My objections to the repeal of Article 125, UCMJ, have naught to do with either biblical injunction or latent homophobia (an intentionally propagandistic term in & of itself, BTW).

As I suspected, Obama has withdrawn his threat to veto the Defense Authorization Bill. You will find the bill’s supporters justifying it by referring to Section 1031, which specifically applies to al Qaeda and its allies. But Section 1032, which does not include this language, apparently gives the feds the authority to keep citizens suspected of ‘terrorism’ under indefinite military lockdown without benefit of trial. However, the definition of “terrorist,” under Homeland Security guidelines, includes damn near everybody except members of the Obama Administration.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    • Phil says:

Yeah, wild stuff in that bill. I’m oddly enough just now reading about the obvious bullshit for why he’s not vetoing. I’ll be going with many occupiers over to Ft. Meade on Saturday for Bradley Manning’s trial and first chance to face his accusers and the public in 18 months! It’s the damn guy’s 24th birthday. I am quite against war and the military in general but am always gracious and appreciative for those who put their butts on the line, and in this horrific case, liberties. Not sure what your feelings are on his case since there are “supposed” violations of the UCMJ which I don’t personally see because he *was* in fact, protecting us from foreign and ->domestic<- enemies. In any event, I'm just glad you're a thinker. I can [dis]agree happily with thinkers. I'll pop back over I'm sure.
