A Family Affair

“President Obama really isn’t divisive: all the liberals agree with him.” —Melanie Morgan, Human Events

“We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.” —Aesop

In government, as in nature, birds of similar species flock together.  Which is why you see so many red feathers protruding from the Obama aviary.  The latest left-winger elevated to a lofty perch is Obama’s California fundraiser, Tony West, now the number three man at the Department of Injustice. West hails from Nancy Pelosi’s People’s Republic of San Francisco where he made his bones working on the mayoralty campaign of the neo-communist from Oakland, Ron Dellums. He raised cash for Michael Dukakis and John Kerry, served as an aide to Clinton’s Waco Wacko Janet Reno during the Slick Willie years, and then signed on as defense attorney for the American al-Qaeda John Walker Lindh, the Left Coast laddie captured in Afghanistan in 2001 after fighting against U.S. troops. West wasn’t able to get his traitorous and unrepentant client off the hook, but he expressed admiration for Lindh’s “intellectual curiousity,” and  said:

He is not a terrorist…I truly believe John will have a lot to offer after his incarceration…”

West is a hard-core progressive with a soft spot for jihadists and a proven ability to raise millions of dollars in cold cash for electioneering lefties—an Obama kind of a guy.  And Tony’s wife Maya is an Obama kind of gal.  Maya Harris is the

[…] Vice President for Peace & Social Justice at the Ford Foundation…Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, she served as the Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Northern California.

In her role as the head of the largest affiliate office of the ACLU, Harris directs and coordinates litigation, media relations, lobbying, and grassroots organizing work.

Another community organizer? Sometimes it seems like there’s more community organizers out there than there are communities to organize.  Back to the West family business: Maya’s sister is Kamala Harris, current Attorney-General of California, and one-time mistress of former S.F. mayor, the philandering ultra-liberal Willie Brown. Kamala is a former San Francisco District Attorney whom PBS once described as a “female Barack Obama” (Lord have mercy, you mean there’s more than one?).  As DA, Harris (like her brother-in-law, who leads the DOJ’s legal assault against the state of Arizona) helped put the “S” in “Sanctuary City,” situating illegal aliens in Bay area taxpayer funded training programs. And, like the President, she  is a favorite of the good old Communist Party. Kamala’s other supporters include the usual suspects—the California Labor Federation, the Services Employees International Union, and a smorgasbord of independent financiers backed by the labor movement and PowerPAC.org, a left coast cadre of socialist organizers and fundraisers:

PowerPAC directs financial and human resources to strategic local and state legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and other campaigns by organizing donors who are committed to social justice politics. We identify priority areas for investment and help donors achieve maximum political impact with their political giving.

So why is Tony West and his  family of activists a concern?  Ulsterman spells it out:

Insiders are already indicating West may in fact be among a short list of potential replacements should Holder resign his position. So we have a former Obama campaign bundler and defense attorney of a Taliban terrorist, who also happens to be the brother in law of the California Attorney General whose state just received a multi-billion dollar housing bailout – the same man who might soon find himself being placed in the position of being the next Attorney General of the United States…

Are these birds or commie rats? Great political cartoon…says it all. I like how you write. One will either laugh and take notes or hide their teary-eyed head in the sand, and you don’t allow the latter for your readers. Thanks~

    • Bob Mack says:

Thanks, SHERRY. Ya gotta laugh at these “progressive” weasels. Of course, they’ll be a lot funnier once they’re removed from power. The folks who fled Castro aren’t too happy with Mr. Hope & Change either, as the below video proves:

Sums it up quite nicely. It is reassuring to know there are others in the wing equally incompetent as a replacement in case any of Obama’s minions falter. I never realized how Important the AG position was till now. Great lesson in Civics.

While most people were out earning a living in the private sector, the leftists seeped into government like dry rot in the woodwork. Now the entire building is in danger of collapse:

Attorney questions promotion of terrorist defender to head of Gitmo policy at Justice

A former Justice Department attorney who blew the whistle on his department’s policies is now questioning the promotion of a former defense attorney for an American terrorist to the No. 3 spot at the Justice Department — specifically charged with crafting U.S. policy on Guantanamo detainees.

      J. Christian Adams, once an elections lawyer who accused the Justice Department of racial bias in its decision to not prosecute a voter intimidation case involving the New Black Panther Party, said Tony West’s promotion from assistant attorney general for the Civil Division to acting associate attorney general is one more step toward letting radicals run the Justice Department.

…Adams said not only did West represent Lindh, but his firm was also involved in two other defense cases for terrorists working against the U.S.

“Tony West took on, and his firm, took some of the most radical causes for America’s enemies before coming to the Justice Department,” he said.

…At the Justice Department, West was already responsible for litigating national security cases like habeas corpus petitions brought by detainees at Guantanamo Bay. He also was the top lawyer defending the president’s health care reform legislation against constitutional challenges and leading civil enforcement actions filed after the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. His department defends federal officials in lawsuits filed against them.

Adams, who now runs the Election Law Center blog, said in another era, being a defense attorney for America’s enemies would not have qualified someone for a job at the Justice Department.

“It would have disqualified you,” he said. Now, though, many of the very people who worked for detainees at Guantanamo “are in charge of Gitmo policy.”

  4. You have to wonder just deeply the Marxist have infiltrated into the bureaucracy? If we can get Obama and his appointees out of office, we may still do some serious purging of the lower ranks.

    • Bob Mack says:

Government at all levels is in serious need of a purgative. As are the media, the universities, and our public schools. But I don’t see it happening. IMHO, we’re heading into the new Dark Ages.

I wish I didn’t agree with you on that last comment, Bob. I think Dark Ages really does exemplify the goal of these parasites. And now it seems too many institutions are full of them. I keep trying to hope there are more of us than there are of them, but….they are in too many positions with keys to the kingdom. Purge would be good if we could pull it off.

    • Bob Mack says:

You won’t be surprised by this piece, CHERYL. As reported by The Other McCain: David Axelrod’s Red Roots: Obama Adviser’s Communist Ties Exposed

Presidential historian Paul Kengor has dug up some fascinating facts about the background of David Axelrod, showing President Obama’s top political strategist to have deep ties to the American Communist Party (CPUSA) and other leftist individuals and organizations.

…While a student at the University of Chicago in the early 1970s, David Axelrod began working as a political reporter for the Hyde Park Herald, which Kengor says brought Axelrod to the attention of Don Rose and David Canter. Both of these men were associated with the Communist Party and other far-left organizations.

Kengor explains that David Canter’s father, Harry Canter, was “an instructor at the Abraham Lincoln School, an infamous Chicago-based [CPUSA] front that instructed pupils in the teachings of Marx and Lenin.”

…At a time when U.S. troops were fighting communism in Vietnam, Hyde Park-Kenwood Voices also published “pro-Hanoi screeds by [Students for a Democratic Society] members based in Chicago,” Kengor writes.

Kengor’s American Spectator article is important because Axelrod’s background — like Obama’s associations with such left-wing figures as Frank Marshall Davis and Bill Ayers — shows how ideas, policies and rhetoric originating in Marxist-Leninist doctrine and anti-American propaganda have been “mainstreamed” into Democratic Party politics.

Critics of Kengor’s investigative report will likely raise the charge of ”McCarthyism,” expecting us to miss the irony of that accusation because, of course, revelations from the Venona papers and other sources have largely vindicated Sen. Joseph McCarthy: There were Soviet agents in the U.S. government, and the American Communist Party was at all times an instrument of Soviet subversion.

Wow, and they mean that he appoints so many would-be Marxists by accident? 😛
