Free Range Communism

From the radicals in the communist “Occupy Wall Street” movement, who want to shut down America on May Day (that’s International Worker’s Day if you’re seeing Red), to the racist rants of the New Black Panthers and their demented fellow bigots, to the increasingly unhinged babble of eco-arsonists like Steve Zwick (who advocates burning down the homes of climate change skeptics, presumably with them in ’em) and adipose-brained academics like Professor Kari Norgaard (who believes that the government should mandate psychiatric treatment for anyone who disagrees with the theories of Al Gore), leftists are demonstrating once again why they should be confined to a preserve for incorrigible crackpots, miles from civilized society, where their bizarre behaviors can’t harm anybody but themselves.

No American, of course, should expect his or her government, as currently configured, to protect them from any of these free range maniacs—too many of them are the government. At least until January.  “We are on their side,” said Barack Obama of the Occupiers.  Barack’s a guy who’s sauntered the socialist side of the street since he was a mere slip of a lad chawing on Fido and Jiminy Cricket with his Indonesian step-daddy. But it’s not his gustatory preferences that should worry us (our dogs, yes); it’s his lifelong predilection for what’s now being called progressivism. But just because a discredited political system like Communism has been re-branded (by discredited Communists) doesn’t mean it’s been improved.  It’s still the same old useless product that was recalled during the Reagan years.  And with any luck, that other re-branded and defective product, Barack Obama, will be recalled soon as well.
