The Conjurer’s Art

It seems that Hillary Clinton, the Dragon Lady of the American polity, has seen fit, at least temporarily, to go au naturale, a frightening contemplation to be sure, but what our media means by it in this instance is merely a return to the geeky, straight-haired, makeup-less, bespectacled, hairy-legged look of her youthful undergraduate days in the Movement, when men were men and so were the women.

Though I generally belong to the “less is more” school when it comes to women’s cosmetics, I clearly remember a horrifying incident in my own misspent youth, when a girl I casually called upon one sleepy morning answered the door stripped of pretense, most of her charms scattered haphazardly around her apartment —  her hair stashed in the bedroom, her eyelashes and a dozen shades of lip gloss cached away in a medicine cabinet,  her uppers soaking in a cloudy glass of water in the kitchen, and her udders still packed in the bandeau which she’d flung over the arm of the sofa the night before.  I suppose I should have been grateful that both legs were apparently her own, but at the time, I was as concussed as if I’d been standing near a detonating car bomb.

It was during those disturbing moments that I began to learn that most of what we think we know of life is mere illusion, and — disregarding the battle of the sexes — nowhere are the artifices of the conjurer  more practiced than in the field of politics.  That master of deception, Barack Obama, for example, who pulled the wool over the eyes of millions in 2008, claims to be battling the forces of Islamic evil, when in actuality he is facilitating it:

[…] A stunning Washington Post piece on Sunday documented how we’ve been secretly releasing captured combatants from Afghan jails to placate the Taliban and other insurgent groups and entice them to negotiate with us. Administration officials wouldn’t say if these terrorist thugs went on to murder our troops, probably because they have.

Why are we so interested in kissing up to these thugs? Obama ultimately intends for the Taliban to rule Afghanistan again, a development that could destabilize the whole region.

It is part of an administration policy called “legitimate Islamism,” and conservatives need to wake up and understand what it means. Basically, as explained by an Obama surrogate in the National Journal recently, Obama is seeking toput radical Islamists in power in country after country on the theory that if they have a “legitimate” government to run, they won’t join Al Qaida and attack us.

So far, Obama has succeeded in overthrowing or destabilizing secular forces everywhere his administration has meddled except Afghanistan. From Libya to Egypt to Yemen, the Obama administration has turned its back on or actively removed leaders who — whether we like them or not — have kept radical Islamists in check. In their place, administration officials have nurtured the radical Muslim Brotherhood and other like-minded groups. In Afghanistan, the Taliban are the administration’s radical Islamic overlords of choice. (The Evidence: Obama Is Undermining U.S. Troops in Afghanistan to Put the Taliban in Power via Constitutional Emergency)

With an election looming, Obama is hoping that his hands are still quicker than the eyes of the voters, but the illusion that he’s governing in the best interests of the United States is a conjuration that’s growing harder and harder to perform.

I have to tell ya Bob, I’ve seen a better face on an iodine bottle as opposed to Hillary!

  2. Alex Jones says:

I remember that Obama was all about magic rainbows and flying unicorns when he came to power; won the Noble Peace Prize (for what?); I am wondering if his fairy tale has a happy ending.

    • Bob Mack says:

Hey, ALEX … Obama’s trick is making liberty disappear. Appropriately enough, Nobel invented dynamite, so it’s not surprising that his prize was awarded to someone whose goal is to blow up the Constitution.

  3. Our troops need to be brought home right now. These so-called peace talks are a joke except for our troops who still there. The billions of dollars we are giving Pakistan will be used in part to fund the Taliban in Afghanistan. Whatever geopolitical chess game Obama is playing, it is not worth one more drop of American blood!

Indeed, it is all one huge illusion. Bring our men and women home. They are not overseas to fight for Obama’s Marxist ideology.

    • AFVET says:

      Oh D.
Perhaps you haven’t heard Obama’s statement commending the troops for their efforts “on my behalf”. Such arrogance !
The oath that we took was to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America against any enemies foreign and domestic.
Nowhere in the oath does it stipulate protecting the president of the United States.
Our military protects the Country, not the president.
The Marine that you see at the bottom of the stairway of AF1 is on detail.
Just the same as the ones that guard Arlington National Cemetery.

    • Bob Mack says:

…and they’re certainly not overseas to fight for “legitimate” or any other kind of Islamism.

  6. Dora says:

If she wants to go without makeup – so what. But can’t she at least wash her hair?

    It’s filthy! She looks disgusting!
