It’s been a rough week.
On Friday, I had to euthanize the dog that lived with me for a quarter of my life. Today I suffered the official swearing-in of the man who’s doing the same thing to the country. Tomorrow brings the public coronation. I think I’ll pass. I miss my dog. I miss America even more.
President Barack Obama could not pass a background check if he was applying for a gun permit or a job. Why has this man been allowed to remain in office or take the oath for a second time? (Obama Could Not Pass a Background Check)

Bob, sorry to read about your beloved doggie. He is in heaven now, watching over you.
I feel the same away about America, and I’m disgusted by the fawning over the coronation of the emperor w/no clothes. What sad days for the USA. Take Care
Thanks, BUNNI. Named her after Lucy the White Elephant that’s been standing sentinel on the beach at Margate, N.J. (South Atlantic City) since 1881. Hope you’re doing well.

So sorry Bob Mack, that is a very hard decision. You are in my prayers. God bless you!
Thanks, LOOPY.
So sorry to hear, an immense loss I am sure. It was hard to do a post today, to even think about it. At least you mustered to the call.
Yeah, it’s funny … they start out as pets and gradually become family members. But, what are you gonna do, everything ends. Hoist a beer & sing the old Bob Hope theme song — “Thanks For The Memories”
Sorry to hear about your dog Bob.
On Saturday we had to euthanize our cat of 20+ years.
My wife took it harder than I did. She was failing badly, could no longer walk.
I had to tell my wife that it was time.
I can’t stand to see them in misery.
“Thanks for the Memories”.
AFVet, We lost our cat of 20+ years 6 years ago. I see find his hair and every time I do a tear drops then I think of all the great times and comfort for those many years. My husband cried as well, and he is retired military! God bless
Yeah, when it’s time, it’s time. It’s sure quiet around here now, though.
Well, there might be another pup that would love to live with you.
We also have a rescue cat that is going on 3 years old, and he is a dynamo.
Maine Coon cat, weighs 25 pounds.
He is into everything and is my buddy.
I am so sorry to hear about the lost of a beloved family member. When we have these “children” for many, many years it is like losing a piece of yourself. God bless.
Thanks, MUSE.
I am really sorry to hear this Bob and I know from personal experience just how hard and hurtful it is. I lost my dog 7 years ago and have not been up to getting a replacement all these years later. I do think about him almost daily and like you said above….. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks, SAMI. No dog & more Obama all in the same week — how much is a guy supposed to take?
Take solaace in knowing that Lucy has gone to a better place. America went to a worse place after she died.
It was good to hear that Obama’s college groupies were shocked & dismayed at the jump in their health insurance due to the Big Red One’s “Affordable Care” Act:
Pets become an integral part of our family, and we miss them when they leave us. this pres is not an integral part of the American family and we will NOT miss him when he is gone.
RM, Obama’s like the old country song, “How Can I Miss You If You Never Leave?”
Best I have heard!
Thinking of you, Bob. A sad time. This saying always hit home with me:
“We give them the time we can spare and the love we can spare. In return, dogs give us their absolute all. It is the best deal man has ever made.”
Thanks, FREE.
So sorry about your loss Bob. I had a Lab mixed that passed on 13 years ago. She was a value added member that is sorely missed as yours is to.
Thanks, NS.
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss, Bob. I know that’s tough.
Thanks, RH.
I’ve got a slighly used, neurotic one-eyed hound dog if you’re in the market. 😉 Really, though, I am sorry you had to lose your puppy. That is never easy. I STILL miss my childhood pet, a cat named Muchka. Which is Hungarian for cat. Well technically macska but that was too hard to explain on vet visits. Think I’ll go now . . .
Lin
Thanks, LIN. I think I’ll rest up for a year or so before I get another dog, although your offer is tempting …
Oh, man…I am so sorry to hear about your dog, Bob. :-(( I’ve lost two in my life, both times devastated over it. I lasted 3 months after the last one and finally I said we HAD to get another dog to love. (getting older and said we better do it or it will be too late.) So we found a rescue (petfinders.com) named Bosley and brought him home….and his tail has not stopped wagging since then. So I hope there is another four footed friend in your future after you feel more like it. Also…agreed…the coronation and losing your dog in one week is too much for anyone to take. It looks like this is going to be a very bad and long four years. Now that I think of it…you are going to really need a new dog to love and cheer you just in order to assuage the pain of losing the nation. Hang in there!! My best to you…
Thanks, CHERYL. I’m considering a rescue dog — I think we’re all gonna need rescuing pretty soon.
Bob,
My sincere condolences on the loss of your four-legged friend.
In August, I lost, quite suddenly, my beloved cat Dusti. Cancer. I had her euthanized before the worst set in. I still miss Dusti every day. It’s all I can do not to cry over the loss!
