Despite being force-fed more political advertising than any suffering citizen should have to endure in a single lifetime, there’s one sure thing I’ve learned about the mountebanks who run for public office: it’s a damned shame that you have to vote for any of ’em. Current regard for the Bolsheviks that inhabit the Executive Branch is lower than a serpent’s behind and there are hemorrhoids that are more popular than Congress. Democrats have ruined the economy, the healthcare system, and our national defense while Republicans focus their bile on the people attempting to stop them. Elections have become a game of Russian Roulette played with only one empty chamber in the revolver, but we still spin the cylinder hoping we can beat the odds. Georges Pompidou, late president of the French Republic, believed that there were three roads to ruin:
“… women, gambling and technicians. The most pleasant is with women, the quickest is with gambling, but the surest is with technicians.”
Georges had it all wrong. The road to ruin has always been paved by the politician.
