Democrats: The Red Headed League

“As a rule, the more bizarre a thing is the less mysterious it proves to be.” — Sherlock Holmes, The Red Headed League

The American Lenin… but don’t take my word for it.  Here’s David Horowitz, one-time Red Diaper baby, charter member of the radical 1960’s “Movement”, and former editor of the defunct leftist journal Ramparts MagazineMr. Horowitz should know a Red when he spots one — hell, he used to be one:

“My parents were communist just like the mayor of New York, I was a new leftist in the ’60s just like the mayor of New York, but I got off that boat and he never did, he’s still a communist. Why should you be surprised, you elect a communist and then you expect good governance? I mean, what communist has ever run an administration well? Unfortunately, we have an identical personality in the White House who is absolutely bent on destroying this country. He is responsible for the explosions of the Middle East, he’s a supporter still of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the fountainhead of Al Qaida and terrorism globally. He’s Putin’s patsy. Every American with a drop of patriotic blood is terribly embarrassed that we have become a laughing stock, and that’s basically because Obama thinks when America surrenders it’s good for the world. He is an anti-American president; he is an enemy of this country.

The Obama FileFortunately, Mr. Horowitz came to his senses; many of his communist comrades did not — they became Democrats.

“Most conservatives habitually referred to leftists who were determined enemies of America’s social contract as “liberals.” In calling them liberals, conservatives failed to appreciate the Marxist foundations and religious dimensions of the radical faith or the hatreds it inspired. And they failed to appreciate the left’s brutal imposture in stealing the identity of the intellectually pragmatic, patriotic, anti-totalitarian “Cold War liberals” whose influence in American political life they began killing off in 1972 with the McGovern coup inside the Democratic Party.” (Preface to The Black Book of the American Left)

In order to appreciate the depths to which the modern Democratic Party has fallen, one need look no further than the malevolent Dirty Harry Reid, Senate majority leader:

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) claimed on Thursday that armed supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy are “domestic terrorists” and reckless individuals who put their families in danger.

Speaking at a Las Vegas Review-Journal event, Reid was clear: “They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists. I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.” (The Blaze)

Dirty Harry is but one example of the closet-totalitarians who infest the ranks of the federal government — the same government that controls the heavy weapons.

Are you dismissing [Reid’s] comment as sour grapes after having his reputation again dinged because of his involvement in the matter? You shouldn’t.

No One's Wild About HarryWhen the majority leader of the United States Senate calls you a Domestic Terrorist, and he has helped his colleagues pass many, many laws that deal very harshly with ‘Domestic Terrorists’, and the legitimacy of his powerbase is challenged and backs down in the desert, you had better take him seriously. He has just been very honest with us all. He has told us what he thinks of us, and he has already told the world how we should be treated. And he has hundreds of political allies currently sitting in elected offices across the country. And his team has a million guns and badges at their disposal, waiting for orders. When a man tells you who he is, believe him. (III Percent Patriots)

Instead of putting a lien on the property of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, the Bureau of Land Management surrounded his ranch with 200 armed agents. It’s not the only agency with a private army. Back in 2008, candidate Barack Obama slipped a little-noticed line in a speech, proposing a national police force reporting straight to him. “We cannot continue to rely only on our military,” he said. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” (IBD)

And by “civilian” Obama meant federal employees under his control:

[…] 40 federal agencies – including nearly a dozen typically not associated with law enforcement — have armed divisions.

The agencies employ about 120,000 full-time officers authorized to carry guns and make arrests, according to a June 2012 Justice Department report.

Though most Americans know agents within the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau of Prisons carry guns, agencies such as the Library of Congress and Federal Reserve Board employing armed officers might come as a surprise

Pistol packing librarians?  Just what is the penalty for an overdue book these days?  But that’s not all …

The number of federal department with armed personnel climbs to 73 when adding in the 33 offices of inspector general, the government watchdogs for agencies as large as the Postal Service to the Government Printing Office, whose IG has only five full-time officers. (Armed EPA raid in Alaska sheds light on 70 fed agencies with armed divisions)

What’s next? Census takers with Glocks? Answer those pesky personal questions, Citizen, or take a double-tap to the head. This is “fundamental transformation,” all right, courtesy of Barack Obama’s federal government.  Just the way Lenin would’ve wanted it.
