Obama Gives Alaska Away!

..well, not all of it—yet. Only seven oil-rich islands and the surrounding sea-beds.  As reported by LoopyLoo at My Blog:

Obama has been literally doing everything that he can to weaken this country since he took office. He has lowered our defence’s along both borders, he has spent our treasure, he has betrayed our allies and lowered our standard of living.

Now he is going even further and giving away parts of our country. And not just any part, but valuable islands that would increase our oil production if drilling were allowed on them. And to make matters even worse, the state that he is taking this land away from is Alaska.

Read the story for yourself and start spreading the news. This man has betrayed this country in so many ways. How can anyone consider re-electing him unless they want this country to cease to exist?

Report: Obama Administration Is Giving Away 7 Strategic Islands to Russia

The Obama Administration is reportedly giving away Wrangell, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta islands in Alaska to Russia. The federal government drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side
Former senatorial candidate Joe Miller broke this story at World Net Daily:

The Obama administration, despite the nation’s economic woes, effectively killed the job-producing Keystone Pipeline last month. The Arab Spring is turning the oil production of Libya and other Arab nations over to the Muslim Brotherhood. Iraq is distancing itself from the U.S. And everyone recognizes that Iran, whose crude supplies are critical to the European economy, will do anything it can to frustrate America’s strategic interests. In the face of all of this, Obama insists on cutting back U.S. oil potential with outrageous restrictions.

Part of Obama’s apparent war against U.S. energy independence includes a foreign-aid program that directly threatens my state’s sovereign territory. Obama’s State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians. Yes, to the Putin regime in the Kremlin. Read the rest at: Gateway Pundit!

It’s probably just a matter of time until Obama decides to rid himself of another thorn in his side and gives Texas back to the Mexicans.

 ‘Dream’ Act

A member of one of the constituencies that Barack Obama so assiduously courts had his version of the American dream go awry the other day when his plot to  bomb the U.S. Capitol was foiled by the F.B.I.

The 29-year old Moroccan man accused of trying to blow up the U.S. Capitol told acquaintances that America’s war on terrorism actually was a war on Muslims and they needed to be ready for battle.

…El Khalifi…expressed interest in killing at least 30 people.

…He came to the U.S. when he was 16 years old and overstayed his visitor visa, which expired in 1999, making him in the country illegally, according to court documents. (Terror suspect accused of planning to detonate explosives arrested near Capitol in FBI sting)

El Kalifi should have conferred with Obama’s illegal immigrant advocate before he strapped on that suicide vest.  Maybe he could have gotten some pointers.

Here’s a comment I got when I posted this. Mine was also a reblog.
    Bob A.

    From a resident Alaskan:
This is old, old, old, news. Part of a maritime boundary agreement that’s been on going for alt least 4 if not more presidential administrations. These islands are so isolated and desolate and not even reachable more than 4 months out of the year, the remaining 8 their ice bound, that its not cost effective at all to tap them for any possible resources. They have no strategic value at all. Their DUDS so would be no loss to us and Gentleman Joe Miller knows that he just has to have something to bitch about since he lost not only the election but in court on recount.

These islands are much closer to Russia than Alaska and clearly on the Russian side of the maritime boundary line.

I also find it amazing that not only has the GOP blocked any effort to fix the damage, they then say Obama’s policies are destroying the country. and racist Tea Party rednecks are destroying the country.
It’s a proxy issue. For many, the real issue is not is religion, but his race. This does not apply to all right-wingers, but it is true of a substantial segment — whether they admit it or not.
The Republican Party is not a cancer in the body of America, a party of racists and religious bigots. The President doesn’t hate this country; I believe the extremist republicans hate this country because Obama is running this country. The President doesn’t cater to one race of people; he’s in this for all races of people. See, this is just an extreme far right post, which is designed to bate racism and hatred towards the President.
Anyone who calls Obama a traitor is a racist! It’s obvious they are racist, hateful, and disgusting human beings. That is a fact!

Finally, Put a sock in it, scumbag. I’ve read many of your posts. Who are you to call anyone, especially the President, a disgrace of a man, when you are nothing more than a hetero-phobic, anti-Christian, racist, bigot!

…a comment from a resident, left-wing Alaskan. You can always tell them by their compulsive name-calling. I just dump comments like that in the trash where they belong.

      • boudicabpi says:

I leave them. He wants his free speech but wants me to shut up, LOL, won’t happen.
        Bob A.

        • Sherry says:

Good idea to leave ’em. It lets others see their immaturity. On an old blog I had I would delete the comments and replace it with, “I’m an idiot.” That was after leaving previous dumb comments of theirs up. Ya know, I never did have a problem with trolls back then…lol!

        • Bob Mack says:

True enough, SHERRY…but I started this blog essentially to help combat the pernicious Left & as a vehicle for my own opinions. I don’t see any point to debating with numbnut leftists—I’m already angry enough. Still, I’ll post an opposing point of view if it happens to be well-thought out, at least semi-literate, or witty (don’t usually see a great deal of wit coming from the port-siders, however–their idea of humor is usually a smug monologue by Bill Maher or a virtually incoherent rant by the irascible Sgt. Schultz).

        • Sherry says:

Yeah, I don’t mind opposing viewpoints but its that namecalling that gets me.

  2. Bob says:

So what if Øbama gives away Alaska? We’ll still have 56 states left.

p.s. My husband always says we could solve a lot of our problems if we gave California back to Mexico and Manhattan back to the Indians. I have to admit he has a point.

  3. Really- Obama is “giving away” these Islands?

Actually- the Alaska Supreme Court, in 1994 under Republican governor Wally Hickel, in the case: D. Denardo v. State of Alaska that these islands were NOT part of alaska.

Despite your assertions otherwise- the combined size of the five islands are 228 square kilometers., with more then a 1/3 buried under ice caps and glaciers.

And despite a nay man “claiming” these islands for the US in the late 1800’s, the request appears to have never been processed, nor has the US ever had any structures or citizens there. Unlike both the Russians, and the British. And looking at a map will show you these islands are just off of siberia- clearly much, much closer to Russia then anything that could be claimed as american territory.

Another non-issue, wrapped in half-truths and outright lies.

    • Bob Mack says:

According to the Alaska AG and legislature, a giveaway is exactly what it is, whether you like it or not:

The giveaway of 8 strategic Alaskan islands and vast oil-rich seabeds to the Russians by the U. S. State Department has been confirmed by Alaska’s Attorney General Gregg D. Renkes.

“Now that he has acknowledged this multi-billion dollar rip-off of the Alaskan and American public, we urge him to take seriously the Alaska Legislature’s call on him to fight it,” stated Carl Olson, Chairman of State Department Watch..

Attorney General Renkes issued a cease-and-desist warning in July against State Department Watch from publicizing the giveaway in mailings to the Alaskan public. His office had asserted, “It also appears that the claims in your mailing may be deceptive, such as your claim that eight strategically and economically vital Alaskan islands are being given away.”

Following a legal review his office retracted the cease-and-desist warning in a letter of September 29, stating “there did not appear to be a consumer protection violation.”

The Alaska Legislature is adamant about stopping the giveaway. Under the sponsorship of Representative John Coghill Jr. (R-Fairbanks) the Legislature passed House Joint Resolution 27 with

nearly virtually unanimous votes in both houses

. At stake in the Arctic Ocean are Wrangell, Herald, Bennett, Jeannette, and Henrietta Islands, and Copper Island, Sea Lion Rock, and Sea Otter Rock at the western end of the Aleutian Chain. Along with the islands go the 200-mile exclusive economic zones in the ocean with their oil, fishery, and other resources.

The resolution complained that the State Department negotiated its agreement with the Soviet Union in total secrecy. No representative of Alaska was allowed in the negotiations, and no public input was sought in this historic concession to the Russians. No quid-pro-quo has been identified. The consent of the State of Alaska was not sought for this giveaway of Alaskan territory and property to a foreign government. State Department Watch’s chairman Olson and Vice Chairman Mark Seidenberg testified to the legislature on this issue.

The legislature also asked the Governor, Attorney General, the Congressman, and two U. S. Senators to intercede to stop the giveaway. However, for years U. S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Ted Stevens and Congressman Don Young have strongly backed the giveaway.

HJR 27 re-asserts Alaska’s rights as a sovereign. The resolution reminds the federal government that the 10th Amendment limits the scope of federal power to that specifically granted by the Constitution of the United States and no more. Each state possesses a vast array of rights that our Founders strove to make certain the federal government could not usurp, rights the federal government seems to increasingly have ignored or diminished.

This year several resolutions before the House refer to the abuse of federal powers and the consequences that abuse poses for Alaska…

  4. And still- what does this have to do with Obama? this occurred in the late 90’s.

And in case you, as some in the Alaska legislature (but not their Supreme Court) seem to have forgotten- the power over defining states boundaries, as well as negotiations with foreign soveriegn powers over such, rests squarely with the federal government.

No where in history where these islands ever legally a part of Alaska, nor the US. Nor was the “claim” to them being US territory, made by a single sailor, ever approved or adopted by the US state Department (and these claims were laid in the 1890’s).

    • Bob Mack says:

I don’t intend to argue ownership of the islands—the Alaskan legislature considers them part of Alaska, as did the federal government at one time (otherwise why have to cede ownership in the first place?). Be that as it may, the feds have no more right to cede Alaskan territory without proper treaty ratification than they do to cede New Jersey. It doesn’t matter who first initiated the Maritime Agreement (never signed by Russia, therefore never in effect), Obama is the president now (at least for another 10 months). For whom are you advocating, the Russians, Obama, or both?

  7. I¡ll go along with this deal as long as comrade Obama and all of his czars go with the islands.

  8. I no longer believe that Obama doesn’t know that he’s systematically destroying America.

    • Bob Mack says:

Of course he knows what he’s doing … it’s the people who still support him who don’t know what they’re doing.

      • Freedom, by the way says:

Kinda reminds me of Jesus, “Forgive them Father, they know not what they do.”
But I am not perfect like Jesus and I am finding it harder and harder to forgive those that vote for the destruction of our country.

One thing I learned during my time in the military was that our own politicians will stab us in the back faster than any of our enemies. Thanks for your service, ROBERT, and thanks for commenting.

  11. Mae says:

Instead of complainging, I would like to hear your solutions to some of the problems. We have one of the best presidents in the history of American in office right now, otherwise, where would be? Why don’t you ask Bush an nice GOP cronie? Where would he like us to be? Third World?

    • Bob Mack says:

“…one of the best presidents in the history of America?”

Mae, respectfully, what have you been smoking, ’cause, I’d like to get my hands on some. You want to hear some solutions? Here’s a few:

      1. Govern according to law, which in our case is the U.S. Constitution.
      2. Strip unaccountable federal agencies like the EPA of all undelegated powers that rightfully belongs to the People (via their duly elected representatives).
      3. Institute term limits for Congress & force them to live under the same laws as the rest of us.
      4. Reform the tax code so that the 49% of Americans who currently do not pay taxes assume their “fair share”.
      5. Stop spending money that we don’t have.

I could think of others, but those’ll do for a start. Oh, & by the way, criticizing the unconstitutional actions of a lawless regime hardly qualifies as “complaining”. You could look it up.

  12. Robert Lee says:

Last February my comment was based upon my opinion of Obama as being totally incompetent and the worst president we’ve ever had. Now that his gang has manipulated the 2012 election, I believe him to be the worst threat this country has ever faced!
All the chickens have voted for Colonel Sanders; God help us!!!
