Chronicling the invasion of the Obama administration is akin to the plight of the coast-watchers in the Pacific during the early days of World War II—the Japanese armada has arrived and the U.S. Navy has not:

…An Islamist party called Nahda seems likely to have captured the lion’s share of the votes cast in the first free election in Tunisia.

…in Egypt, the agenda of the Islamists’ mother ship – the Muslim Brotherhood – is being adopted even before elections formally bring it to power.

…The increasingly mercurial Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has announced that – despite the long-running, immensely costly and ongoing U.S. effort to protect his kleptocratic government – in a war between Pakistan and the United States, Afghanistan would side with Pakistan.

…in Iraq, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has touted his success in thwarting Washington’s belated (and half-hearted) efforts to keep a significant number of U.S. forces in his country after the end of this year.

…Add to this litany an emboldened and ascendant China, a revanchist Russia once again under the absolute control of Vladimir Putin, a Mexico free-falling into civil war with narco-traffickers and their Hezbollah allies on our southern border and you get a world that is fraught with peril for the United States. Matters are made infinitely worse by the prospect of the U.S. military being hollowed out by reckless budget cuts. (Who lost the world? And Comrade Obama, whose public persona disguises the Marxist consequentialism of his actions, is just as nefarious at home as on the road:

Instead, he just pivoted to bypassing the Congress the people elected and maximizing instead the vast regulatory powers of the Executive Branch.

For example, since cap and trade legislation obviously no longer had any prayer of getting through Congress (even the overwhelmingly Democrat Congress of 2009-2010 wouldn’t pass it), Obama said after the election, “Cap and trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way. On November 9th, Obama’s FCC plans to temporarily (for now) cut the lines of communication of its subjects…uh, citizens:

[…] the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a Public Notice on June 9, 2011 that its first ever nationwide diagnostic test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) would occur on November 9…

…America’s Emergency Alert System has never shut down all television, radio, cable TV and satellite radio in its entire lifespan, so there is much anxiety about why it’s being done now…

…The Commission’s choice of Nov. 9 as the test date is fueling speculation from an uneasy public. Nov. 9 in Europe and in military parlance is 9/11/11.

As commenters to various news sites point out, Nov. 9, 1938 is also the anniversary of Hitler’s Kristallnacht and Nov. 9, 1923 the date of Hitler’s failed Munich coup. (November 9th’s USA Nationwide Communication Blackout

Taken in conjunction with his proposed “Net Neutrality” usurpation (S.773), which would allow Obama and future presidents, should there ever be any—

to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” relating to “non-governmental” computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat. (Bill would give president emergency control of Internet – Declan McCullagh, CNet|News)

—this might be enough to entice even the most hardened of skeptics to try the proverbial tin-foil hat on for size.  As Texas Fred observes:

[…] it sounds a lot like an attempt at controlling the media, on ALL levels, and as of right now, conspiracy theory people are going nuts over this plan.

I have serious reservations, not because it’s an Emergency Warning system, but because of the opportunity to misuse and abuse the system, and I don’t like the idea of anyone being able to just *pull the plug* on ALL of America and our information sources. And I have yet to see this story from ANY major media source.

What is the source of FEMA’s and the FCC’s authority for conducting the national EAS test? 

Pursuant to the FCC’s rules, EAS Participants must take part in nationwide tests of the EAS.  The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which administers the EAS, has the authority to ensure the conduct of training, tests, and exercises of the EAS by Executive Order.
