Contemptible

Ah, Executive Privilege — the last refuge of the presidential scoundrel.  Despite what he said about his favorite foil George W. Bush a few years back, it turns out that ol’ Shaky … I mean ol’ Barack … is not particularly averse to hiding behind Executive Privilege himself when it comes to covering his gluteus maximus and that of his head Jackass, Attorney General Holder:

Attorney General Eric Holder asked Tuesday for President Obama to exert executive privilege over documents pertaining to the Justice Department’s botched “Fast and Furious” gun running operation.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was informed today that the president granted Holder’s request.

Alas, Obama’s last minute procedural Hail Mary failed to save the A.G.:

A House panel voted Wednesday to place Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with a subpoena, defying an assertion of executive privilege from President Obama … All 23 Republicans on the committee voted for the contempt resolution, while all 17 Democrats voted against it.

A Border Patrol agent murdered, over 50 Mexican nationals slaughtered — including the brother of the prosecutor the state of Chihuahua — over 2,000 weapons illegally distributed by a United States government agency into the hands of the drug cartels that are turning the Southwest into a war zone … and not a single Democrat wants to get to the bottom of it?  Now that’s contemptible.

    America has never had a more despicable administration in Washingtton. Sadly, even if this gets to court it will be appealed for years. Meanwhile the MSM will say Republicans are only going after Holder and Obama because they are black. As I said; despicable!

      Since the Obama mis-administration is doing such a fine job of emulating that of Tricky Dick’s, albeit from the far left, I expect they’ll soon find an 18 1/2 page gap in one of Obama’s many autobiographies.

    From CFP: The real objective behind Fast & Furious?

    After taking office, Barack Hussein Obama began a coordinated effort with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to control the purchases and ownership of guns in the United States. To justify the implementation of tougher gun control laws and in a direct assault on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, this administration cited a statement made to Congress by William Hoover, Assistant Director for Field Operations for the BATFE on February 7, 2008. According to that report, 90 percent of the weapons used by the Mexican drug cartels were purchased from or originated in the U.S.

    That stunning revelation empowered the Obama administration to solicit public support for banning so-called assault weapons in the U.S., and calling for tougher gun control laws. The problem, however, is that the statement is disingenuous at best.

    … Interestingly, confirmation of the government’s programs and knowledge by government officials, particularly Hillary Clinton was made public by the release of State Department cables published by Wikileaks. The cables prove that the U.S. State Department and Hillary Clinton knew the origins of the bulk of the weapons used by the Mexican drug cartels, although kept this information secret for the greater agenda of U.S. gun control.

    Meanwhile, it appears that the Obama administration with the full cooperation of Eric Holder, used various weapons tracking programs already implemented to inflate the statistics involving guns originating in the U.S. to advance even tougher gun control measures.

    Research and investigation indicates that a series of programs implemented under the umbrella of a government sanctioned program known “Project Gunrunner” were purposely exploited with the knowledge and consent of government officials at the highest of levels.

    According to several agents who have provided testimony, each operation where weapons were allowed to “walk” into Mexico from the U.S. was approved at the highest levels of the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of State. Some believe that operations of this magnitude could not have been possible without the knowledge and approval of Obama himself.

    Almost 40 years after the biggest scandal to rock the nation, it is, again, time to ask the question to Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama under oath and in front of congress: What did you know and when did you know it?

      I’m sure in that stack of memos they won’t release there is one discussing the “gun control” benefit of Fast & Furious.

    The Democrats decided to put politics ahead of getting to the bottom of a program which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, and if that isn’t contemptible I don’t know what is!

    I see another vacation for the Obama’s looming on the horizon.
    If Holder doesn’t produce the requested documents and Boehner puts the contempt vote on the floor, Barry will escape again to sites unknown while the contentious situation in WDC plays itself out.
    He has done it in the past during sticky situations,

    Did you hear the Fox announcement this morning that the GOP wants to “negotiate” with the DOJ and end F&F? I heard no more about it all day. Can’t stand the thought of letting these killers get away with this. As to Obama’s comments about Bush and Ex Privilege, the courts reversed 4 of Bush’s “privileges.” That could happen to BO as well – although not in a timely manner for the elections. He runs his mouth constantly, so he has left us a wealth of his own quotes to draw from. Thankfully, someone is finding them. Thanks so much for the link:-)

    Playing the “executive privilege” card is costing Barry-O big-time. He dropped eight points overnight in the RDTP. They run a three-day rolling average, so this reflects only one day of responses since Wednesday AFAIK. Currently -22 in approval.

    Great post! The hypocrisy is breath-taking. One must wonder why he would purposefully insert himself into a growing scandal so close to the elections. There must be something pretty incriminating in those remaining documents. I wish there were more in Washington standing up against the law-breaking, the lies, and the secrets. Only time will tell . . .

      Thanks, SAM. I guess we’ll just have to add them to all the other Obama documents, which, as Ed McMahon used to say to Johnny Carson, “… have been hermetically sealed in a #2 mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnall’s porch since noon today. No one knows the contents of these envelopes …”
